Mechanical TechnicianLocation: Swindon Hours: Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 DOE

Be open to Training in Portugal for short periodsAbout the Mechanical Technician RoleWe're looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician to join a skilled engineering and production team responsible for assembling, integrating, testing, and maintaining complex electro-mechanical systems and sub-assemblies. This is a hands-on position requiring strong mechanical and electrical assembly skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work within a quality-driven manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Mechanical Technician Carry out the assembly and integration of structures, assemblies, and mechanical sub-assemblies Perform precision drilling, fastening, bracket installation, and harness routing Conduct inspections on composite, metallic, and hybrid structures Complete rigging, alignment, and mechanical adjustment activities Identify, document, and report defects, damage, or non-conformities Install, wire, and troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems, including control systems, sensors, power distribution, and communication equipment Support software and firmware loading and system configuration where required Conduct testing, functional checks, and support system readiness activities Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and system faults using appropriate test equipment Read and work from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, technical schematics, work instructions, and maintenance documentation Maintain accurate certification records, maintenance documentation, component traceability, and non-conformance reports Work to production schedules and project deadlines Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and housekeeping at all timesWhat We're Looking For in a Mechanical Technician Previous experience in a Mechanical Technician, Assembly Technician, Fitter, Maintenance Technician, or precision manufacturing role is essential Experience with bracketry, harnessing, drilling, fastening, and mechanical assembly Basic Electrical experience and integrating all systems Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail with a quality-focused approach Self-motivated and adaptable with the ability to work independently and as part of a team Good written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively to deadlines and quality requirements Health & Safety conscious with a professional approach to workmanship Full UK driving licence Benefits £30-40k 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays Company pension scheme Bonus Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) Private medical and dentalIf you are interested in the Mechanical Technician role, APPLY NOW or call Jacob at Orion Electrotech on (phone number removed)
