Mechanical Technician/Fitter
(Training Role - Workshop Based)
Up to £28k + 5 weeks Annual Leave + Bank Holidays,

This workshop-based position offers full training, making it ideal for someone with a hands-on mechanical background who is looking to develop specialist skills in the build, calibration, testing and overhaul of bespoke mechanical equipment used in industrial machinery.
Mechanical Technician - The Role:
Build and assemble mechanical units and sub-assemblies
Set up mechanical kit on specialist test equipment and carry out calibration
Perform functional testing, performance checks and quality inspections
Strip down, inspect and overhaul returned units
Clean, measure and assess components for wear, tolerances and reuse
Follow detailed engineering drawings, work instructions and procedures
Produce accurate build reports, test records and service documentation
Support senior technicians with complex builds, fault investigations and overhaul work
Maintain a safe, organised and high-quality workshop environment
Mechanical Technician - The Person:
Strong mechanical aptitude with a background in Automotive, Plant, Marine, Industrial or similar environments
Hands-on experience using mechanical tools and working with assemblies or precision components
Good problem-solving skills and an interest in developing diagnostic abilities
Ability to learn technical procedures and follow structured work instructions
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a small technical team
Desirable:
Mechanical maintenance, Automotive repair or Plant/Industrial equipment experience
Understanding of mechanical tolerances or precision measurement
Engineering qualification, apprenticeship or relevant vocational training
