About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Media Relations Manager to lead their public relations outreach efforts. This role is vital for building and nurturing relationships with media outlets, securing positive press coverage, and managing the organisation's public image. You will be responsible for developing proactive media strategies, handling press inquiries, and responding to challenging situations. This position requires you to be based in our Oxford office to foster strong on-the-ground connections with journalists and stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, an excellent communicator, and possesses a deep understanding of the media landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive media relations strategies to enhance brand visibility.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key journalists, editors, and media influencers.
• Draft compelling press releases, media advisories, and proactive pitches.
• Manage incoming media inquiries and coordinate spokespeople interviews.
• Oversee crisis communications and provide timely, accurate information.
• Monitor media coverage and provide analysis and recommendations.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in media relations, public relations, or journalism.
• Proven track record of securing positive media coverage in national and trade publications.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong understanding of the media landscape and journalistic practices.
• Experience in crisis communications management.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, office-based environment in Oxford .
