Lifeways is one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist support for people with learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries, mental health conditions, and complex care needs. We’ve recently completed one of the biggest digital transformations in our sector, and we’re just getting started. From Property to PBS, our ambition is bold: to become the Care Provider of Choice, powered by innovation, stability and the belief that great care starts with great people.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate and self‑motivated Service Manager to lead specialist mental health care packages, supporting a diverse group of individuals with mental health needs. St Matthews Court is a development of 10 high‑quality, self‑contained apartments in Barnsley that provides accommodation and 24 hour support for people with complex mental health needs. Person‑centred recovery support is provided by our core on‑site team of Recovery Workers, with additional support from our peripatetic Quality and Practice Team.
The main aim of this role is to provide effective, outcome‑based, community recovery for people with complex mental health needs, regularly monitoring, evaluating and developing the service, ensuring that the feedback and involvement of service users, their families, partner agencies and staff are fully incorporated.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference, ensuring high‑quality, person‑centred care that promotes independence, dignity, and choice for the people we support.
In This Role, You Will
- Support, inspire, and develop your team of recovery workers and team leaders to deliver outstanding care.
- Oversee the delivery of high‑quality care and support for individuals.
- Drive service improvements and quality standards.
- Build strong relationships with your team, families, and communities.
What You’ll Bring
- A minimum Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, with Level 5 desirable (or working towards it).
- Strong experience in operational and people management.
- A genuine passion for quality care and the ability to lead by example.
Why Join Lifeways?
When you join Lifeways, you step into a leadership role in a company that values and invests in its people. Our shared values guide everything we do: Caring, Honest, One Team, Innovative, Courageous, Equal.
You’ll Get
- Leadership development programmes & progression pathways.
- A supportive, inclusive workplace culture.
- Matched contribution company pension scheme.
- Wellbeing resources and mental health support.
- Reward and recognition schemes.
- Discounts on shopping, tech, travel and more through CHOICE Rewards.
Why Now?
We are on a bold journey to become the Care Provider of Choice – and this is an exciting time to join us. We listen closely to our team members through surveys and forums and act on their ideas, continuously improving how we support both our people and the individuals in our care.
As a leader, you’ll have the authority, resources and support to shape your team’s culture and the quality of care they deliver. We invest in your growth through leadership development and promote a workplace where wellbeing, diversity and inclusion are more than just words – they’re lived values.
