About the Role
Our client is looking for a caring and resilient Mental Health Support Worker to join their dedicated team in Sunderland . In this essential role, you will provide one-to-one and group support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, helping them to manage their conditions and improve their quality of life. You will work within a supportive framework, assisting clients with their recovery journey, promoting independence, and fostering social inclusion. This position requires a compassionate individual committed to person-centred care and upholding the dignity of every client.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support and advocacy for individuals with mental health conditions.
- Assist clients in developing coping strategies and personal recovery plans.
- Facilitate group activities and therapeutic sessions to promote social interaction and well-being.
- Monitor clients' well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Help clients maintain their independence in the community, supporting them with daily tasks as needed.
- Work collaboratively with families, mental health professionals, and other agencies.
Requirements
- Experience in mental health support or a similar caring profession is essential.
- Good understanding of mental health conditions and recovery principles.
- Excellent communication, listening, and empathy skills.
- Ability to remain calm and de-escalate challenging situations.
- Commitment to professional boundaries and ethical practice.
- Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends as required in Sunderland .
