About the Role
Our client is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Support Worker to join their community-based mental health team in Reading . This role is pivotal in providing essential support to individuals experiencing a range of mental health challenges, helping them to manage their conditions and improve their quality of life. You will work collaboratively with clients to develop recovery-focused support plans, offer emotional support, and connect them with relevant community resources. Key Responsibilities
- Provide emotional support and practical assistance to individuals with mental health conditions in their own homes or community settings.
- Assist clients in developing and implementing personal recovery plans, setting achievable goals and monitoring progress.
- Help clients to build coping mechanisms and self-management strategies for their mental health.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals, families, and other support services to ensure a coordinated approach to care.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions, progress, and any incidents.
- Promote independence and social inclusion, encouraging clients to engage in community activities and personal interests.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a mental health support role or a related field is highly desirable.
- A strong understanding of mental health conditions, recovery principles, and safeguarding procedures.
- Excellent listening and communication skills, with a high degree of empathy and patience.
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
- Willingness to undertake further training and professional development.
