About the Role
Our client is seeking compassionate and resilient Mental Health Support Workers to join their team in Reading . This role is dedicated to providing essential support to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, helping them to manage their conditions and improve their overall well-being. You will work within a supportive structure, assisting clients in their daily routines, encouraging engagement with recovery-focused activities, and providing emotional support. This is a crucial role in promoting independence and facilitating clients' reintegration into the community, contributing to a positive and therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one support to individuals with mental health conditions, based on their care plan.
- Assist clients with daily living tasks, promoting independence and self-care skills.
- Offer emotional support and active listening, creating a safe space for clients to express themselves.
- Support clients in engaging with community resources, appointments, and social activities.
- Monitor clients' mental state and behaviour, reporting any concerns to the relevant professionals.
- Assist with medication management as per care plans and organisational policies.
Requirements
- Experience in a mental health setting or a related care role is highly desirable.
- A genuine passion for supporting individuals with mental health needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy and patience.
- Ability to remain calm and de-escalate challenging situations.
- Understanding of mental health conditions and recovery principles.
- Willingness to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends as required.
