About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Mine Environmental Specialist to oversee environmental management and compliance for their operations near Brighton . This role is vital for ensuring that all mining activities adhere to environmental regulations, minimize ecological impact, and promote sustainable practices. You will be responsible for developing and implementing environmental management plans, monitoring environmental performance, and liaising with regulatory bodies. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive environmental management systems and plans for mining operations.
• Monitor and report on key environmental parameters, including water quality, air emissions, and land disturbance.
• Ensure compliance with all national and local environmental legislation and permits.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments and propose mitigation measures.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and community groups on environmental matters.
• Manage waste management programs and promote recycling and resource efficiency.

Requirements

• Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management, preferably within the mining or extractive industries .
• Strong understanding of environmental legislation, impact assessment, and monitoring techniques.
• Experience with ISO 14001 or other environmental management standards.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to conduct field assessments and work effectively on site.
