About the Role
Our client requires a proactive Mine Maintenance Engineer to join their operational team in Derby, Derbyshire . This role is pivotal in ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of all mining equipment and machinery. You will be responsible for developing and implementing robust maintenance strategies, overseeing repair activities, and minimizing downtime to support continuous production. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer to take ownership of asset management within a vital industrial sector in the East Midlands .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive preventative and corrective maintenance plans for mining equipment (e.g., excavators, crushers, conveyors, haul trucks).
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of maintenance technicians and external service providers.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on heavy mining machinery.
- Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely procurement of necessary components.
- Implement maintenance best practices and continuously seek opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in maintenance engineering, with at least 3 years in a heavy industrial or mining environment.
- Strong knowledge of heavy machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair complex equipment failures.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to maintenance.
