Mine Maintenance Supervisor

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Mine Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and repair of all mining equipment at their facility near Plymouth, Devon . This hybrid role demands a hands-on leader who can manage a team of mechanics and technicians, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance of heavy machinery. You will be responsible for planning preventative maintenance schedules, diagnosing complex mechanical issues, and ensuring safety protocols are strictly adhered to. This position is crucial for maintaining the operational efficiency and longevity of the company's critical assets.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, including mechanics, electricians, and technicians.
• Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for all mining equipment (e.g., haul trucks, excavators, drills).
• Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on heavy machinery.
• Ensure timely and effective repair of equipment to minimize operational disruptions.
• Manage spare parts inventory and procurement processes.
• Enforce all health and safety regulations within the maintenance workshop and operational areas.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Supervisor or Lead Mechanic in a mining, heavy industrial, or plant environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of heavy mining equipment and associated systems (diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems).
• Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage a team and delegate tasks effectively.
