About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned and results-oriented Mine Operations Manager to oversee their mining activities in the Edinburgh, Scotland region. This senior leadership position is responsible for the overall management of day-to-day mining operations, ensuring targets for safety, production, cost, and quality are met and exceeded. You will lead a diverse team of mining professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of mining processes, and a commitment to sustainable and responsible mining practices from our Edinburgh base.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all aspects of underground and/or open-pit mining operations, ensuring safety and efficiency.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve production targets and cost objectives.
• Oversee the management of mining personnel, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage operational budgets and control expenditures effectively.
• Collaborate with other departments, including geology, engineering, and maintenance, to optimize mine performance.
• Implement best practices in mining technology and operational methodologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mine operations management.
• Proven track record of leading large operational teams and managing complex mining projects.
• In-depth knowledge of various mining methods, equipment, and operational challenges.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in the mining industry.
