Mine Planning Engineer - Strategic Development

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Mine Planning Engineer to join their strategic development team in Oxford . This role is integral to designing and optimizing long-term mining plans, ensuring efficient resource extraction and economic viability. You will work with advanced modeling software and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including geologists, engineers, and environmental specialists. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in mine planning and a proactive approach to problem-solving, contributing to the sustainable growth of the company's mining portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and update comprehensive long-term mine plans and schedules.
• Create detailed 3D mine designs and layouts for both open-pit and underground operations.
• Perform economic evaluations and sensitivity analyses for mine planning scenarios.
• Conduct feasibility studies and assess the impact of geological and technical variables on mine plans.
• Ensure mine plans adhere to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with operations teams to provide planning support and address any deviations from the plan.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design.
• Proficiency with mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, or similar.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, geotechnical principles, and resource estimation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
