Mine Planning Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Mine Planning Engineer to join their team based near Reading . This role is critical for the strategic development and operational planning of our mining projects. You will be responsible for creating short-term and long-term mine plans, optimizing resource utilization, and ensuring that all planned activities are technically feasible, economically viable, and comply with safety and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in mine design software and a deep understanding of mining engineering principles, contributing significantly to the efficient and sustainable operation of our client's mining ventures in Berkshire . This role offers the chance to shape operational strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed short-term and long-term mine plans, including production schedules and layouts.
• Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) for design and optimization.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for proposed mining operations or expansions.
• Ensure plans integrate geological data, geotechnical considerations, and equipment capabilities.
• Collaborate with operations, geology, and environmental teams to ensure plan alignment and feasibility.
• Monitor plan execution and provide guidance for adjustments based on site conditions and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design, preferably in both open-pit and underground environments.
• Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning and design software.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, geotechnical engineering, and environmental considerations.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
