About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive Mine Planning Engineer to join their team in the Nottingham area, offering a hybrid work arrangement. You will be responsible for developing short-term and long-term mine plans to optimize resource extraction, ensuring safety, efficiency, and economic viability. This role requires strong technical skills in mine design software and a deep understanding of mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and update detailed mine plans, including scheduling, production targets, and reserve modeling.
• Design mine layouts, access routes, and ventilation systems for open pit or underground operations.
• Perform geotechnical analysis and ensure plans adhere to safety and stability requirements.
• Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) for design and simulation.
• Collaborate with operations, geology, and surveying teams to integrate plans effectively.
• Conduct economic evaluations of different mine plans and scenarios.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design.
• Proficiency in industry-standard mine planning and design software.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, geology, and geotechnical principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment.
