About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Mine Planning Engineer to join their operational team in Belfast . This role is essential for the strategic development and optimization of mining operations, ensuring long-term viability and profitability. You will be responsible for creating short-term and long-term mine plans, optimizing resource extraction, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This is a critical position that requires a strong technical background and the ability to translate geological data into effective mining strategies, contributing to the sustainable growth of the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain short-term and long-term mine plans and production schedules.
- Optimize mine layouts, sequencing, and equipment utilization to maximize ore recovery and minimize costs.
- Conduct mine design and planning using specialized software, ensuring alignment with geological models.
- Perform reserve calculations and resource modeling updates based on mine development progress.
- Monitor operational performance against plans and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure all mine planning activities comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation.
Requirements
- Degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in mine planning and design, preferably in relevant commodity sectors.
- Proficiency with mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, or similar.
- Strong understanding of mining methods, geology, and geotechnical principles.
- Experience in reserve estimation and resource modeling.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
