About the Role
Our client is seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Mine Planning Engineer to join their team based in Wolverhampton . This critical on-site role focuses on developing and optimizing long-term and short-term mine plans to ensure efficient, safe, and economically viable extraction of resources. You will utilize advanced mine planning software to design pit layouts, sequencing, and production schedules, collaborating closely with geology, operations, and survey teams. The successful candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to translate geological data into practical, implementable mining plans. This is a key position for shaping the future success of the mining operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and update short-term and long-term mine plans, including open pit or underground designs, sequencing, and production targets.
- Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, MineScape) to create detailed 3D models and schedules.
- Collaborate with geologists to integrate resource models into mine plans and optimize extraction strategies.
- Work with operations and survey teams to ensure accurate implementation of mine plans and monitor progress.
- Conduct economic evaluations of different mine designs and scenarios to maximize profitability.
- Ensure compliance of mine plans with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design.
- Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, MineScape).
- Strong understanding of open pit or underground mining methods, equipment, and constraints.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and spatial reasoning skills.
- Ability to interpret geological models and technical reports effectively.
