About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly analytical and forward-thinking Mine Planning Engineer to contribute to their strategic development in Wolverhampton, West Midlands . This role is central to optimizing the long-term extraction of mineral resources, involving the development of detailed mine plans that balance economic viability, operational efficiency, and safety. You will utilize advanced modelling software and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to design sustainable mining methods. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the profitable and responsible exploitation of mineral assets, contributing to the company's ongoing success in the mining sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term mine plans, including production schedules and resource utilization strategies.
- Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) to create 3D models of mine designs and layouts.
- Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects and expansions.
- Optimize mine designs to maximize ore recovery, minimize waste, and ensure operational safety.
- Collaborate with survey, geological, and operations teams to ensure plan accuracy and alignment with field conditions.
- Monitor actual mine performance against plans and revise schedules as necessary to address variances.
Requirements
- A degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design, preferably in underground or open-pit mining.
- Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning software packages.
- Strong understanding of mining methods, rock mechanics, and resource estimation.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex geological and operational data.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
