About the Role
Our client is seeking a proficient Mine Planning Engineer to contribute to their operations near Wolverhampton . This hybrid role requires a strategic thinker capable of developing short-term and long-term mine plans that optimize resource extraction, minimize costs, and ensure operational safety. You will work closely with geology, operations, and survey teams to translate geological models into actionable mining schedules and designs. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in mine design software and a thorough understanding of mining methodologies to support the successful execution of mining projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed mine plans, schedules, and production forecasts using specialized software.
- Design mine layouts, including access routes, extraction areas, and waste disposal facilities.
- Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for proposed mining plans.
- Collaborate with geologists to integrate resource models into mine planning.
- Ensure mine plans comply with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor progress against plans and revise schedules as needed to address operational challenges.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in mine planning and design, with hands-on experience in relevant software.
- Proficiency in mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, or Surpac.
- Understanding of various mining methods (e.g., open-pit, underground) and their planning implications.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, managing projects and collaborating across teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
