Mine Planning Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Mine Planning Engineer to join their team near Derby, Derbyshire . This role is central to developing and optimizing short-term and long-term mine plans to ensure efficient resource extraction while adhering to safety and environmental standards. You will work closely with geological, production, and engineering teams to create schedules, resource models, and operational strategies. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in mine planning software, and a comprehensive understanding of mining operations. This is a critical position for maximizing productivity and ensuring the sustainable development of the mine's resources.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain detailed mine plans, including production schedules and resource allocation.
• Create and update 3D mine models using specialized planning software.
• Analyze geological data to optimize mine layouts, cut-off grades, and extraction sequences.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects or modifications.
• Monitor operational performance against planned targets and make adjustments as necessary.
• Collaborate with operational teams to ensure safe and efficient execution of mine plans.

Requirements

• Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and operations.
• Proficiency in mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, or Surpac.
• Strong understanding of open-pit or underground mining methods.
• Knowledge of resource estimation and reserve modeling.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
