Mine Planning Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and innovative Mine Planning Engineer to join their dynamic mining operations based in Birmingham, West Midlands . This role is critical in ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective extraction of mineral resources. You will be responsible for developing and optimizing short-term and long-term mine plans, integrating geological data, operational constraints, and production targets. Working within a collaborative team environment in our Birmingham office, you will play a key part in maximizing resource utilization and operational performance across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed short-term and long-term mine plans using mine planning software.
• Integrate geological models and survey data into mine plans to optimize resource extraction.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects and extensions.
• Monitor mine production against plan, identify variances, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure all mine plans comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Liaise with operations, geology, and engineering departments to ensure seamless execution of mining plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design, preferably in open-pit or underground mining.
• Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, or similar.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, equipment capabilities, and operational constraints.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret geological and survey data.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and communicate technical information clearly.
