Mine Planning Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and forward-thinking Mine Planning Engineer to join their team in Reading . This role is integral to the strategic planning and scheduling of all mining operations, ensuring efficient resource extraction and long-term mine viability. You will be responsible for developing detailed short, medium, and long-term mine plans, optimising production sequences, and managing geological and geotechnical data. The successful candidate will work closely with operations, geology, and survey teams to deliver robust and achievable mine plans that meet company objectives within the mining industry .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed short, medium, and long-term mine plans and schedules.
• Utilise mine planning software to design open pit or underground mine layouts and sequences.
• Collaborate with geologists to integrate resource models into planning.
• Analyse production data to assess plan adherence and identify areas for optimisation.
• Prepare reports and presentations on mine plans, production forecasts, and economic evaluations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design.
• Proficiency in mine planning software packages (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, Whittle).
• Strong understanding of mining methods, economics, and geological principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
