About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Mine Planning Engineer to join their team in Derby, Derbyshire, UK . This role is vital for the strategic development and operational success of mining projects. You will be responsible for creating short-term and long-term mine plans, optimizing resource extraction, and ensuring that production targets are met efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in mine design and planning, coupled with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, contributing to the sustainable growth of the company within the mining industry .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and update detailed mine plans, including production schedules, sequencing, and resource utilization strategies.
• Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Leapfrog) to create geological models and optimize mine layouts.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for new mining projects or expansions.
• Collaborate with geological, operations, and engineering teams to integrate various aspects of mine planning.
• Monitor plan adherence, identify deviations, and recommend adjustments to optimize performance and mitigate risks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in mine planning and design.
• Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning and modeling software.
• Strong understanding of geological principles, mining methods, and operational constraints.
• Excellent analytical, spatial reasoning, and project management skills.
