About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Mine Planning Engineer to join their operational team based near Liverpool . This role is integral to the long-term success of their mining projects, involving the development and optimization of mine plans for both open-pit and underground operations. You will work closely with geologists, surveyors, and operations managers to ensure that resource extraction is conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with production targets and economic objectives. Your expertise in mine design and scheduling will directly contribute to the profitability and sustainability of the mining activities, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop short-term and long-term mine plans , schedules, and production forecasts.
- Design mine layouts, including access routes, extraction sequences, and stockpile management.
- Utilize mine planning software to optimize resource recovery and operational efficiency.
- Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining areas and methodologies.
- Collaborate with geotechnical and ventilation engineers to ensure safe and practical mine designs.
- Monitor mine progress against plans and implement adjustments as needed to meet targets.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations on mine planning activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine planning and design.
- Proficiency in industry-standard mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac).
- Strong understanding of open-pit and/or underground mining methods.
- Experience with resource modeling and reserve estimation processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
