Mine Planning Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Mine Planning Engineer to contribute to their projects based in Bristol . This role involves developing short and long-term mine plans, optimising resource extraction, and ensuring operational efficiency and safety. You will work closely with geologists, surveyors, and operations teams to create viable and sustainable mining strategies. The hybrid nature of this position allows for a balance between on-site project involvement and remote planning and analysis, offering a flexible working environment in the South West.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and update short-term and long-term mine plans using specialised software.
• Optimise mine layouts, scheduling, and production rates to maximise resource recovery and minimise costs.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mine developments or expansions.
• Collaborate with the geology team to integrate resource models into mine plans.
• Ensure plans comply with all health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation, including mine design reports and production forecasts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design.
• Proficiency with mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, or Surpac.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, equipment, and operational constraints.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, managing time between office and remote work.
