About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Mine Planning Engineer to join their team in Wolverhampton . This role is fundamental to the strategic development and optimization of mining operations, ensuring efficient extraction of resources while adhering to safety and environmental standards. You will be responsible for developing short-term and long-term mine plans, coordinating with various departments to maximize productivity and profitability. This is a key position that requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of mining processes to drive operational success in the West Midlands.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement short-term and long-term mine plans for open-pit or underground operations.
- Utilize mine planning software to create designs, optimize production schedules, and manage resource allocation.
- Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects or expansions.
- Coordinate with geology, surveying, and operations teams to ensure plan execution and alignment.
- Monitor mine performance against the plan, identify deviations, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in mine planning and design.
- Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Datamine).
- Strong understanding of mining methods, geology, and geotechnical principles.
- Experience in resource estimation and mine economics.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, crucial for collaboration in Wolverhampton .
