Mine Planning Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented and forward-thinking Mine Planning Engineer to contribute to their operations near Oxford . This role is instrumental in designing and optimizing the short-term and long-term mining plans to ensure efficient resource extraction while prioritizing safety and environmental sustainability. You will work closely with geologists, surveyors, and operations managers to translate geological models into actionable mine layouts and production schedules. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills in mine design software and a comprehensive understanding of mining engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and maintain short-term and long-term mine plans and production schedules.
• Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) to design pit layouts, road networks, and mine sequences.
• Collaborate with geologists to incorporate resource models and geological constraints into mine plans.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects or expansions.
• Ensure mine plans comply with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical support to the operations team and monitor plan execution, making adjustments as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning and design.
• Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning and design software.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, equipment capabilities, and operational constraints.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and spatial reasoning skills.
• Familiarity with environmental regulations and best practices relevant to mining operations.
