Mine Safety Inspector

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and experienced Mine Safety Inspector to ensure the highest safety standards are upheld across their mining operations in and around Derby, Derbyshire . This critical role involves conducting regular inspections, identifying potential hazards, developing safety protocols, and providing training to staff. You will be instrumental in fostering a robust safety culture and minimizing risks within the mining environment . This is a hands-on position requiring extensive knowledge of mine safety regulations and a proactive approach to hazard identification.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough safety inspections of mine sites, equipment, and operational procedures.
• Identify potential hazards and non-compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Develop and implement safety action plans to address identified risks.
• Provide safety training and toolbox talks to mine personnel.
• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, training, and safety performance metrics.
• Advise management on safety best practices and regulatory changes.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Safety Inspector or in a similar role within the mining industry .
• In-depth knowledge of UK mining health and safety legislation (e.g., CDM Regulations, Mines Regulations).
• Relevant safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence others.
• Proficiency in safety reporting and record-keeping.
