About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Mine Safety Manager to oversee and enhance safety protocols across their mining operations, operating entirely remotely. This senior role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety management systems to ensure the well-being of all personnel and compliance with stringent health and safety regulations. You will be instrumental in fostering a strong safety culture and driving continuous improvement in safety performance. This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated safety professional to lead from a remote setting, implementing robust safety strategies for a global mining enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement site-specific and corporate health and safety plans .
- Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential safety issues.
- Investigate all accidents, injuries, and near misses, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant mining safety legislation and industry best practices.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs to all levels of staff.
- Monitor safety performance metrics and provide regular reports to senior management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Mining Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in mine safety management, with a strong track record.
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) are highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of mining hazards, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills for remote team management.
- Proficiency in safety management software and data analysis.
