About the Role
Our client requires a diligent and proactive Mine Safety Officer to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained across their mining operations near Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, UK . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. This critical role involves regular site inspections, safety training, and fostering a strong safety culture amongst all personnel working in the mining environment .
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety management systems for mining operations .
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
- Deliver effective safety training programs to all site personnel, including new hires and contractors.
- Ensure all mining equipment and operational procedures meet safety regulations .
- Advise management on all aspects of health, safety, and environmental performance within the mining sector.
Requirements
- Recognized qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent).
- Proven experience as a Safety Officer, preferably within the mining industry or heavy industrial sector.
- Thorough knowledge of UK health and safety legislation relevant to mining operations .
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and training skills.
- Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Experience with safety reporting and incident investigation.
