About the Role
Our client is seeking a diligent and accurate Mine Survey Technician to join their team supporting mining operations near Reading . This role is vital for providing precise spatial data to guide mine development, operations, and resource calculations. You will utilize advanced surveying equipment and software to map underground and surface workings, monitor excavations, and ensure accurate volumetric measurements. This hybrid role involves both field work on mine sites and office-based data processing and reporting, contributing to the operational efficiency and safety of the mining projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct topographic surveys, drone surveys, and underground surveys using total stations, GPS, and laser scanners.
- Process survey data and create accurate 3D models, contour plans, and cross-sections of mine workings.
- Establish and maintain survey control networks for mining operations.
- Monitor mine deformation, subsidence, and blast movement, reporting findings promptly.
- Calculate volumes of ore, waste, and stockpiles for production and inventory management.
- Ensure all survey data is accurately recorded, managed, and archived for future reference.
Requirements
- HND or equivalent qualification in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a mine surveyor or survey technician, preferably within the mining industry .
- Proficiency with surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS software) and data processing tools.
- Experience operating and maintaining modern survey equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under varying site conditions.
- Willingness to travel to mine sites in the Reading area and potentially further afield.
