Mine Ventilation Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a qualified Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their team in Reading . This critical role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing ventilation systems for underground mining operations to ensure a safe and healthy working environment. You will be responsible for airflow monitoring, dust control, gas management, and thermal comfort within the mine. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and ventilation engineering principles as applied to the mining industry in the Berkshire area.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, optimize, and maintain mine ventilation systems for underground operations.
• Conduct airflow surveys, gas monitoring, and dust sampling to assess environmental conditions.
• Develop and implement strategies for managing heat, humidity, and contaminants underground.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations related to mine ventilation.
• Collaborate with mine planning and operations teams to integrate ventilation requirements into mine design.
• Prepare reports, specifications, and recommendations for ventilation improvements and equipment.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering , preferably in underground mining.
• Strong knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and air quality management.
• Proficiency in ventilation modeling software (e.g., Ventsim, Ventsim Visual).
• Understanding of relevant mining health and safety regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
