About the Role
Our client is seeking a specialized Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their team in Derby . This role focuses on ensuring optimal environmental conditions within underground mining operations through the design, implementation, and maintenance of effective ventilation systems. You will be responsible for managing air quality, temperature, and humidity, as well as planning and designing ventilation networks to meet safety and productivity requirements. Your expertise will be critical in maintaining a safe and comfortable working environment for personnel in underground mines in Derbyshire and supporting overall operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and optimize mine ventilation systems for underground mines.
- Conduct airflow, dust, and gas monitoring and analysis to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Specify and select ventilation equipment, including fans, ducting, and regulators.
- Develop ventilation plans for new mine developments and modifications to existing systems.
- Troubleshoot ventilation issues and implement solutions to improve air quality and thermal conditions.
- Collaborate with mine planning and safety departments to integrate ventilation strategies.
- Prepare technical reports and cost estimates for ventilation projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on ventilation.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering.
- Proficiency with mine ventilation software and modeling tools.
- Strong understanding of mine environmental engineering principles, including air quality and thermodynamics.
- Experience with underground mining operations and challenges.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
