About the Role
Our client is looking for a skilled Mine Ventilation Engineer to contribute to their operations in the Birmingham area. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining safe and efficient underground ventilation systems, ensuring optimal working conditions and compliance with health and safety regulations. This hybrid role involves a blend of on-site assessments and remote design work, offering a dynamic work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and model mine ventilation networks using specialized software to ensure adequate air quality and temperature control.
- Conduct on-site surveys to assess ventilation system performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies for dust and fume control within underground operations.
- Collaborate with mine planning and operations teams to integrate ventilation requirements into mine design.
- Monitor environmental conditions underground and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Troubleshoot ventilation-related issues and recommend effective solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in mine ventilation design and analysis.
- Proficiency with ventilation modeling software (e.g., VENTSIM, MineCAD).
- Strong understanding of mine environmental control and health & safety legislation.
- Ability to travel to mine sites as needed for assessments and inspections.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
