About the Role
Our client requires a specialised Mine Ventilation Engineer to oversee the design, installation, and operation of ventilation systems for their underground mining operations near Oxford . This role is critical for ensuring a safe and healthy working environment by maintaining optimal air quality, temperature, and humidity levels. You will be responsible for ventilation surveys, network analysis, and implementing innovative solutions to meet the challenges of underground mining in various geological conditions. Your expertise will directly impact the well-being of personnel and the efficiency of operations in the Oxfordshire region.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimise mine ventilation systems to ensure adequate airflow, temperature control, and contaminant removal.
- Conduct regular ventilation surveys, air quality monitoring, and dust sampling to assess system performance and compliance.
- Utilise mine ventilation software for network analysis, simulation, and predicting the impact of changes.
- Specify and procure ventilation equipment, including fans, ducting, and environmental monitoring devices.
- Develop and implement dust suppression and control strategies in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with mine planning and operations teams to integrate ventilation requirements into mine development plans.
Requirements
- Degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on ventilation.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering , preferably within underground mining environments.
- Strong understanding of mine ventilation principles, thermodynamics, and air quality management.
- Proficiency with mine ventilation modelling software (e.g., Ventsim, MineCAD).
- Experience with environmental monitoring equipment and data analysis.
- Knowledge of UK mining health and safety regulations related to underground environments.
