About the Role
Our client is seeking a specialized and dedicated Mine Ventilation Engineer to join their team in Stoke-on-Trent . This critical role focuses on designing, implementing, and managing effective mine ventilation systems to ensure a safe and healthy working environment. You will be responsible for air quality monitoring, dust suppression, temperature control, and the overall design of airflow networks within underground mining operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in fluid dynamics and ventilation principles, combined with practical experience in mine safety and environmental management, contributing directly to operational safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, and maintain mine ventilation systems to meet airflow, air quality, and temperature requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections and airflow measurements to ensure system effectiveness and compliance.
- Develop strategies for dust control, gas dilution, and fire suppression within the mine environment.
- Utilize specialized software for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling of ventilation networks.
- Collaborate with mine planning and safety teams to integrate ventilation designs into overall mine development.
- Investigate and resolve ventilation-related issues and incidents promptly.
Requirements
- Degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline with a focus on ventilation.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably in underground mining.
- Strong knowledge of mine ventilation principles, thermodynamics, and air quality standards.
- Proficiency with ventilation modeling software (e.g., Ventsim, Ventsim™ DESIGN).
- Familiarity with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations in the mining industry.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
