Mineral Processing Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and innovative Mineral Processing Engineer to join their operational team in Plymouth . This role is integral to maximizing the recovery of valuable minerals from raw ore. You will be responsible for the design, operation, and optimization of crushing, grinding, flotation, and other beneficiation circuits. Your expertise will drive efficiency, improve recovery rates, and reduce operational costs, ensuring the economic viability of our client's mining ventures. This is a hands-on position that requires a strong understanding of mineralogy, physics, chemistry, and engineering principles, contributing directly to the successful output of processed minerals.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, operate, and optimize mineral processing circuits, including comminution, classification, gravity separation, and flotation.
• Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale testing to evaluate new process technologies and improve existing operations.
• Analyze process data to identify areas for improvement in recovery, grade, and throughput.
• Develop and implement process control strategies to ensure consistent product quality.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and provide technical support to plant personnel.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all processing activities.
• Prepare technical reports on process performance, recommendations, and project outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mineral processing plant operations or design.
• Strong understanding of mineralogy, liberation, and separation principles for various ore types.
• Experience with process simulation software (e.g., METSIM, JKSimMet) is desirable.
• Proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods for process optimization.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a plant environment.
