Mineral Processing Engineer

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a skilled Mineral Processing Engineer to join their operational team in Glasgow . This critical role focuses on optimizing the efficiency and effectiveness of ore processing circuits to maximize mineral recovery and product quality. You will be involved in process design, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives within a busy mineral processing plant. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer passionate about the science of extracting valuable minerals from raw ore, contributing to sustainable and profitable mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze the performance of mineral processing equipment, including crushers, mills, flotation cells, and thickeners.
• Troubleshoot operational issues and implement solutions to improve recovery rates, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
• Conduct laboratory and pilot plant tests to evaluate new process technologies or optimize existing circuits.
• Develop and maintain process simulations and models to predict performance and identify areas for improvement.
• Prepare technical reports, operating manuals, and training materials for plant personnel.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards within the processing plant.

Requirements

• Degree in Mineral Processing Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mineral processing , with hands-on experience in a plant environment.
• Solid understanding of comminution, classification, flotation, leaching, and dewatering principles.
• Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., METSIM, JKSimMet) and data analysis tools.
• Experience with process control systems and instrumentation is advantageous.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
