Mineral Processing Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Mineral Processing Engineer to join their team in the Edinburgh area, operating under a hybrid work model. You will focus on optimizing the extraction and recovery of valuable minerals from ore, applying principles of metallurgy, chemistry, and engineering. This role involves process design, troubleshooting, and implementation to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality in mining operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, simulate, and optimize mineral processing circuits (crushing, grinding, flotation, leaching, etc.).
• Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale test work to evaluate new processing methods or improve existing ones.
• Troubleshoot operational problems in processing plants and implement effective solutions.
• Develop process control strategies to maintain optimal plant performance and product specifications.
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and process design documents.
• Collaborate with metallurgists, chemists, and plant operators to achieve production targets.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mineral processing operations or design.
• Proficiency with process simulation software (e.g., METSIM, JKSimFloat).
• Strong understanding of physicochemical principles governing mineral separation.
• Experience with various mining commodities and their processing methods.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
