Mining Engineer - Operations Lead

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Mining Engineer to take on the role of Operations Lead within their established mining operations based in Newcastle upon Tyne . This hybrid role allows for a blend of on-site operational oversight and remote strategic planning. You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day mining activities, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with all industry regulations. This position is crucial for optimising production, managing a skilled workforce, and driving innovation in our mining techniques. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all aspects of daily mining operations , including planning, scheduling, and execution.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Monitor production targets and implement strategies to optimize efficiency and minimize costs.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mining professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
• Oversee the maintenance and effective utilization of mining equipment and machinery.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of long-term mine planning and resource development strategies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in operational mining engineering roles, with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
• Strong knowledge of mining methods , equipment, and geological principles relevant to the mining industry .
• Familiarity with mine planning software and production management systems.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in both a remote and on-site operational environment.
