Mining Engineer - Operations

About the Role

Our client seeks a dedicated and skilled Mining Engineer to join their operational team in Birmingham . This role is instrumental in overseeing the day-to-day execution of mining activities, ensuring efficiency, safety, and adherence to production targets. You will be responsible for mine planning, production scheduling, and resource management, working closely with site personnel and management. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement short-term and long-term mine production plans and schedules.
• Supervise and manage mining operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities.
• Monitor production metrics and implement strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations at the mine site.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for new mining projects or expansions.
• Collaborate with geologists, surveyors, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in open-pit or underground mining operations.
• Proficiency with mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, Deswik, Vulcan).
• Strong understanding of mine safety standards and environmental best practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with blast design and fragmentation analysis is a plus.
