Key Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate mortgage applications, analyzing credit reports, financial statements, and property valuations.
- Determine loan eligibility and risk levels based on established underwriting guidelines and policies.
- Ensure all loan documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with relevant regulations.
- Communicate effectively with loan officers, brokers, and clients to gather necessary information and clarify details.
- Approve, deny, or counter-offer mortgage loan applications based on sound underwriting judgment.
- Stay updated on changes in mortgage lending regulations and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mortgage Underwriter or in a similar lending role.
- Solid understanding of mortgage lending principles, credit analysis, and real estate valuation.
- Familiarity with Fannie Mae , Freddie Mac , and government-backed loan programs is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in mortgage origination software and Microsoft Office Suite.
