Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Contract
Location: Skipton, North Yorkshire
Contract: Contract / Temporary
Shift Pattern: Double Days

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established and successful FMCG manufacturing business based in Skipton on a contract basis.
FMCG experience is essential for this position. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, multi-skilled engineer with strong electrical and mechanical skills, capable of effective fault-finding, breakdown response and planned preventative maintenance.
The Role
Your primary responsibility will be to ensure plant and machinery remain safe, reliable and operational, minimising downtime and supporting production targets.
Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across the manufacturing site Respond effectively to breakdowns, diagnosing faults and restoring equipment to operational condition Undertake electrical and mechanical fault-finding and repairs across automated production and equipment Identify recurring faults and contribute to root-cause analysis and continuous improvement Support equipment installation, modification and improvement projects where required Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maximise equipment availability Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation Identify potential equipment failures and recommend appropriate corrective actions Support the development and improvement of preventative maintenance strategies Provide technical support to colleagues and contribute to wider engineering projects and initiatives Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer within an FMCG manufacturing environment – essential Recognised engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent engineering experience Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance skills Experience fault-finding on automated production and/or packaging machinery Proven experience of planned preventative and reactive maintenance Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving abilities Experience working within a fast-paced, high-volume production environment Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond quickly to breakdown situations Excellent communication and teamwork skills A proactive approach to identifying and resolving engineering issues Strong commitment to health, safety and engineering standards
