Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer (Mechanically or Electrically Biased)
Location:
Bedford Salary:
Circa £50,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience) + Annual shift allowance of £3,288.96 Shift Pattern:
Panama Shift (3's and 2's, covering a 24/7 facility) The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced
Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer
to join a fast paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment
. The ideal candidate will bring a well rounded skill set, with an approximate split of
50% Mechanical, 25% Electrical, and 25% Steam/Boiler systems . You will maintain plant and building services to achieve the highest levels of performance, reliability, product quality, and safety
. Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Reliability:
Complete designated tasks efficiently to the highest standard
, carrying out root cause analysis on plant failures to determine underlying reasons and act on findings
.
Continuous Improvement:
Highlight and investigate any deficiencies observed, reporting world spares needed for items that cannot be actioned immediately
.
Safety & Compliance:
Proactively promote and comply with Health & Safety regulations, safe electrical working practices, and company policies at all times
.
Cross-Functional Support:
Work in liaison with other departments as required and provide support and assistance across the facility
.
Systems Management:
Utilise the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for logging work and tracking parts
.
Qualifications & Experience
Recognised Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, B.T.E.C., or equivalent)
.
Previous experience in a maintenance engineering role
, ideally within a food industry or FMCG manufacturing environment.
Safe electrical working certificate
with the ability to complete basic work on 3-phase and single-phase electrical systems and fault finding.
Hands-on experience with steam and boiler systems, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
Current or previous working knowledge of food hygiene procedures, HACCP, IOSH, or COSHH is beneficial.
