About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement policies and procedures for the care, documentation, and management of museum collections.
• Oversee the cataloging, inventory, and condition reporting of all collection items.
• Coordinate conservation efforts and ensure the environmental stability of storage areas.
• Manage loans of collection items to other institutions and oversee incoming loans.
• Facilitate researcher and public access to the collections in accordance with museum policies.
• Supervise collections staff and volunteers, providing training and guidance.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in Museum Studies, Art History, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in collections management within a museum or gallery setting.
• Strong knowledge of collections management software (e.g., TMS, PastPerfect) and database principles.
• Understanding of conservation principles , environmental monitoring, and collections care best practices.
• Excellent organizational, research, and project management skills.
• Experience in supervising staff and managing collections budgets within institutions like those in Oxford .
