Job Description
We are looking for ambitious, driven candidates who are looking to join a dynamic, exciting and collaborative division in order to take the next step in their legal career. This role involves working within a team of fraud specialists and legal support staff as a File Handler in the counter‑fraud team, the largest and longest‑established in the UK. The File Handler will run a caseload of Litigated RTA suspected fraud files for insurance clients, coordinating with lead lawyers to achieve commercially sound results and making decisions within set timeframes.
Key Responsibilities
- Run fraud cases from the point of litigation through to resolution.
- Review and analyse evidence throughout the life of the case.
- Set and agree the case strategy with clients, ensuring adherence to legal and generic strategies.
- Adhere to all work type process stages and identify strategic litigation opportunities.
- Identify client trends and opportunities to raise the firm’s profile.
- Handle files on a non‑delegated basis and ensure maximum client satisfaction.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of client and internal MI.
- Report to insurer client throughout the claim, liaising with relevant parties and meeting procedural deadlines.
- Maintain all case management systems from opening to closure.
- Comply with SRA Standards & Regulations and file management policies.
- Keep financial targets, billing and commercial awareness.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience in civil litigation claims handling / as a legal File Handler or suitably qualified (Ilex, LPC etc.).
- Qualified solicitor / Cilex with practice rights desirable but not essential.
- Experience handling linked and organised fraud desirable but not essential.
- Experience of handling RTA pre‑litigated and/or litigated case load.
- Understanding of insurance litigation practice and indemnity principles.
- Knowledge of the litigation process / working knowledge of CPRA.
- Good advocacy skills.
- Good client care skills.
- High level of analytical skills.
- Excellent listening, verbal and written communication.
- Ability to prioritise work, keep to deadlines and work under pressure.
- Ability to anticipate problems and identify solutions.
- Experience of time recording and billing systems.
