About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Network Infrastructure Engineer to join their IT department in Manchester . This role is pivotal in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network infrastructure across the organisation, ensuring seamless connectivity and optimal performance for all users and systems. You will work on a variety of projects, from upgrading core network components to deploying new network services, playing a key part in the technological backbone of the company. This position offers a dynamic mix of on-site and remote work, ideal for an engineer looking for flexibility and challenging technical work.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, configure, and manage network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to enhance speed, reliability, and security.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and IP addressing schemes.
- Implement and manage network security measures, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry best practices.
- Provide technical support for network-related issues, troubleshooting and resolving problems in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with IT teams to plan and execute network upgrades and migrations.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer or in a similar infrastructure role.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), and switching technologies.
- Experience with network security concepts and technologies (e.g., VPNs, IDS/IPS).
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and performance analysis.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent experience are highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
