Network Infrastructure Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Network Infrastructure Engineer to join their growing team in Sheffield . This role is vital for designing, implementing, and maintaining the company's core network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. You will be involved in everything from physical cabling and network device installation to network configuration and troubleshooting complex issues. This is a key position within the technology operations team, bridging the gap between physical infrastructure and IT services in the installation and maintenance domain.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and manage network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Design and implement network solutions, ensuring scalability, redundancy, and security.
• Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity and performance issues for all users.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and inventory.
• Ensure adherence to network security best practices and policies across all installations.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Network Engineer or Network Administrator.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and switching technologies.
• Experience with network security principles and technologies (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
• Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic IT environment in Sheffield .
