Network Operations Centre (NOC) Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a vigilant and proactive Network Operations Centre (NOC) Engineer to join their expanding team in Leeds . In this critical role, you will be responsible for monitoring the company's network infrastructure 24/7, identifying and resolving network incidents, and ensuring the stability and performance of telecommunications services. You will act as the first line of defense against network outages, working closely with support and engineering teams to restore services rapidly. This position is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail and a passion for maintaining robust network operations within the fast-paced telecoms environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor network performance and availability using specialized NOC tools and systems.
• Respond promptly to network alerts and alarms, performing initial diagnosis and troubleshooting.
• Escalate complex issues to senior engineers or relevant support teams according to established procedures.
• Document all network incidents, actions taken, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
• Perform routine network health checks and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Collaborate with incident management teams to ensure efficient resolution of service affecting issues.

Requirements

• Experience working in a Network Operations Centre or a similar monitoring environment.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix).
• Basic understanding of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and hardware.
• Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends, as part of a rotational schedule.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
