About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Network Security Engineer to bolster their team in Sheffield . This critical role involves safeguarding the integrity and confidentiality of the company's telecommunications network against evolving threats. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing robust security solutions, monitoring for breaches, and responding to security incidents. Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Monitor network traffic for security breaches and unusual activity, responding promptly to alerts.
• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses.
• Develop and enforce network security policies and procedures.
• Investigate security incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Stay current with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques in the telecoms industry .

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Network Security Engineer or in a similar security-focused role.
• In-depth knowledge of network security principles, protocols, and best practices.
• Experience with firewall management, IDS/IPS, and SIEM solutions.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and common network services.
• Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CompTIA Security+) are highly advantageous.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
