Technical Operator
Food production and manufacturing company
Night shifts: 4 on / 4 off, 7pm - 7am
HRGO are looking for a hands-on, mechanically minded person who works great under pressure. To join a we4ll know food manufacturing company as a Technical Operative - first responder to line stops, completing first-line mechanical fixes, changeovers and PPM support to keep production running safely and on plan.
Key duties:
- line set-up/run
- fault finding/repairs

- HACCP/GMP checks
- CI/waste reduction
- training operators.
You’ll need:
- mechanical maintenance experience (confident strip/rebuild)
- breakdown response
- ideally NVQ 2/3 or HND
- food safety/HACCP awareness
- comfortable with OEE/downtime KPIs.
Duties:
- Set up and run production/packaging lines to standard; monitor performance against targets
- Complete changeovers, running adjustments, and support material/cleaning planning to maximise uptime
- Carry out first-line mechanical fault finding and repairs, plus routine checks and basic troubleshooting
- Support PPM with Engineering and elevate complex electrical/mechanical issues appropriately
- Complete quality checks and records; ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, hygiene and H&S
- Support CI/lean activity, reduce waste, and help train/coach operators
Requirements:
- Strong ownership: drives issues to full resolution (across shifts/teams)
- Clear thinking under pressure; curious, practical, and “first principles” problem-solving mindset
- Mechanical maintenance experience (strip-down/rebuild, repair and adjust production machinery)
- Proven experience in a similar line technician or maintenance role within a FMCG OR high-speed manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in a production setting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
